Frequently Asked Questions
What is Outreach360?
Outreach360 is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) that has been providing educational opportunities to students in Latin America and operating international service-learning programs for over 30 years. Outreach360 has guided and supported thousands of teenagers as they made a real impact through service and gained valuable experience for college, careers, and life.
Where do fellows teach?
Fellows teach online using Zoom, delivering live lessons through the Outreach360 Virtual English Academy.
Who do fellows teach?
Fellows teach small groups of children ages 7–12 from across Latin America, all attending the Outreach360 Virtual English Academy on a full scholarship. These students are eager to learn, voluntarily join after school, and are known for being engaged, respectful, and enthusiastic.
What do fellows teach?
Fellows teach fun, interactive English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes using a digital curriculum provided by Outreach360.
What support is provided?
Fellows begin with an initial orientation and receive ongoing training led by Outreach360’s Academic Director and President/CEO—both of whom are experienced in teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Before each class, fellows join a planning and coaching meeting with experienced volunteer teachers or staff. During class, an adult volunteer or staff member is present in the same Zoom meeting—in a separate breakout room—ready to jump in and offer real-time support if needed.
Fellows also complete a comprehensive TEFL certification course.
Can fellows participate if they have other summer activities or travel plans?
Yes—participation is possible as long as fellows are able to attend the initial orientation and are available five days a week during the designated fellowship hours. If a fellow needs to miss part of the session, accommodations can often be made with advance notice. Fellows may also participate from a travel location, provided they have a strong internet connection and a quiet space to teach.
Is the program selective? What are you looking for in applicants?
Yes, the program is selective. While no prior teaching experience is required, applicants should be able to follow instructions, accept feedback, and show a genuine willingness to improve. We're looking for teens who are enthusiastic, reliable, open to trying new things, and excited to grow throughout the fellowship.
What does the fee include?
The fee supports the full fellowship experience. It includes access to a TEFL certification course, personalized training, and ongoing mentorship. More importantly, it helps provide full scholarships for students across Latin America—ensuring they can participate in the program completely free of charge. By joining the fellowship, participants not only gain valuable experience but also help create meaningful opportunities for others.
