Meet our Board
Laura Dennison - Board Chair
Laura has been involved with Outreach360 for over 20 years as a volunteer and board member. Laura is an audiologist and was the founder and president of Audiology Associates of Georgia, which she sold in 2014. Laura received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Audiology from East Tennessee State University, and Doctorate degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Laura has been active in Rotary International, as well as a number of professional associations and boards.
Tom Eklund - Founder/CEO
Tom founded Outreach360 after visiting an orphanage in the Dominican Republic in 1994. Tom received his Industrial Engineering degree from Arizona State University. He worked at IBM for 10 years prior to founding Outreach360. Tom lives in Peoria, AZ with his wife Paula and Dominican dog Shadow!
Coco Barrett - President
Coco hails from Ontario, Canada. She first joined Outreach360 (formerly Orphanage Outreach) as a long-term volunteer in the Dominican Republic in 2004. Soon after, Coco moved to Monte Cristi and began working with us full-time as a Team Leader and then as our Country Director in the Dominican Republic. In 2010, Coco relocated to Jinotega, Nicaragua where she and Alma Fletes created our program there from the ground up. Prior to working with Outreach360, Coco was a deaf-blind interpreter and in her free time has connected with local programs for youth with hearing impairments.
JB has been leading teams of students from St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Bradenton Florida on service-learning trips with Outreach360 each year since 2012. JB received his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and master's degree in Education from Harvard University. JB is a Spanish teacher at St. Stephen's and also leads the women's cross country team. JB is a regular participant in the Boston Marathon.
Rebeca joined Outreach360 in 2020. Rebeca is an organizational psychologist with a master's degree in business administration and pedagogy. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. Rebeca has been involved in school and college level education for more than 18 years in the Dominican Republic and the United States. Currently, she is a Spanish teacher at The Unquowa School in Connecticut.
Pamela Mejia de Rodriguez
Pamela Mejia de Rodriguez joined Outreach360 in July of 2020. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, she received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and her master's degree in education management and planning from the Universidad Catolica de Santo Domingo. Pamela is currently the Lead Teacher for the Miami Marlins baseball team.
Geovanny Vicente Romero
Geovanny Vicente Romero writes an internationally acclaimed column for CNN. He is a Washington, D.C.-based political strategist, consultant, and lecturer. Geovanny publishes investigative and analytical articles on political communication, democracy, development, human rights, governance, elections, the environment, and the role of women in society. He founded the Dominican Republic Center of Public Policy, Development, and Leadership (CPDL-RD). Geovanny has taught these topics at the university level as well as adult education language courses.
Geovanny earned a master's degree in political communications and strategic governance from The George Washington University among other degrees in law and public administration from Spain and the Dominican Republic. Geovanny is the recipient of the Dominican National Youth Award for professional excellence, the nation's highest honor for people 35 and under.
Raquel Brea joined Outreach360 in 2020. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, she has been based in Washington, DC for the last five years. With experience in public affairs, civic tech, and corporate social responsibility she complemented her professional background with a master's degree in political management from George Washington University and the knowledge of four languages. She is passionate about equality, inclusion, and generating social and civic engagement. In her professional and volunteer experience, she seeks to be a promoter of social change by leading teams and processes that take ideas to concrete and efficient actions. She joined Outreach360 with the goal of continuing to work on education in the Dominican Republic. After devoting her law thesis to education, Raquel worked in the National Education Council as an advisor to the Legal Council of Education and worked two years in the Ministry of Education. She believes in the power of the educational resources and the empowerment of communities through learning.
