Ashleigh Rodhouse is a student at American University in Washington D.C. She first volunteered with Outreach360 in 2016 with her high school, Saint Stephen's Episcopal School. Ashleigh then went on to volunteer twice more with Outreach360 in both Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. She is 1 of 54 driven True Blue Outreach360 supporters who are fundraising on behalf of our students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
How did you originally get involved with Outreach360?
I originally got involved with Outreach360 through a trip at my high school, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School.
Why have you continued to stay involved with Outreach360? I have continued to stay involved with Outreach360 because of the impact and the indescribable experience that I got from going on these trips. Also, my teacher J.B. Wolcott, who led my trips, is very passionate about the organization, which has helped me share that passion with him.
How has working with Outreach360's students impacted you? Working with Outreach360’s students has impacted me in ways that I can’t even describe, but to start it has given me so much more perspective of the world and love for other people.
What inspired you to become a fundraiser for the True Blue campaign? I was talking to my old trip leader J.B. Wolcott about the whole Outreach360 experience and finding a way that we could help. I was very inspired to start my own fundraising page and I did so. How have you been successful in fundraising for Outreach360? I think that anyone can be successful in fundraising because no matter how much they raise it will mean something, relating back to [the Outreach360 principle] Poco a Poco. The thing that helped me with my fundraising most was social media posts on platforms such as Facebook.
What would you say to someone considering contributing to this campaign? I would just want them to know how much it means to the kids and Outreach360 for them to contribute even the smallest amount because any amount will go a long way for these girls and boys trying to learn.
What message would you like to share with our students right now?
I would love for them to know that there are so many people who care for them and who want them to have the opportunities that they deserve and to never give up on anything.
Ashleigh is still looking for generous donors to contribute to her fundraising page. Give today and ensure that all 233 of Outreach360's students in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic can continue learning in our Learning Centers this year.
