Gap Semester Internship

Tuesday through Friday,  from October 13th to December 4th, 2020

Outreach360's Gap Semester Internship is ideal for volunteers who are looking for service opportunities this fall with a larger time commitment and an international focus. For 2 to 3 hours each day, Tuesdays through Fridays, you will be teaching beginner to advanced level English Language Learners in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Through structured English modules and professional teacher training, you will have all the tools you need to lead engaging and effective English lessons.

This internship provides a total of 64 to 96 sustainable service hours across eight weeks. You also have the option to include independent study time dedicated to learning Nicaraguan and Dominican culture, Spanish, and/or additional teacher training to meet service hour objectives or requirements. Our virtual Gap Semester Internship will make you feel that you have actually traveled to another country for a few hours each day.

The highlight of my remote intern experience was watching my students grow. I saw their confidence expand in ways that honor their voice and show they are leaders in their communities and classrooms. Become an Outreach360 remote intern! You are allowing students to push their own levels of creativity, leadership, and motivation in the classroom. You will feel happiness unlike any other, knowing that your students learned new vocabulary every day and saw their own potential. You make a huge difference in their lives, even without realizing it. Thank you to everyone! I will never forget this opportunity. I have learned so much.

Why Outreach360?

You will make a real difference. You will use your skills and talents to make a real difference with our students. Opportunities to speak with native English speakers are few and far between; the conversations you have with Outreach360 students will empower them to take what they have learned in the classroom into the real world.

Additionally, Outreach360's virtual impact programs help you to grow in working and serving remotely, an increasingly prevalent skillset.

How will Outreach360 students benefit from my service?

The students participating in Outreach360's programs receive the opportuities that volunteers like you provide at no cost to them or their families. This unique chance at learning English will not only benefit our students in being able to learn a new language but exposes them to new ways of thinking, inspires them to dream big, and empowers them to lead a life that they choose for themselves. The true impact Outreach360 volunteers have on our students is nearly unquantifiable.

What will be expected of me throughout the 8 weeks?

We expect you to login to your Zoom account using the link we provide on time and prepared for all of your classes and training sessions. If you are unable to attend one of your service days, we expect you to communicate that to us as soon as possible.
