A Link in the Chain of Transformation!
A lot can happen in one week. As a one week volunteer, you will be a link in a chain of volunteers who are joining us throughout the year. Together, this chain is transforming the lives of children, families, communities and countries! Your volunteer experience is facilitated by our on-site staff to ensure that you are meeting the current needs of the community in order to make the most of your time with us. Because of this, we are able to measure weekly results and provide sustainable programs for the communities where we are working. The opportunity to volunteer my time in the Dominican Republic was one of my greatest life experiences so far. It taught me so many of the things that I had learned before but forgotten. Living in the United States in an affluent area of Chicago really makes me take so many things for granted. I truly appreciate all that I have and all that my trip has given me. The major lesson I learned while volunteering is that all children around the world need the same things, love, respect, education and a role model. Being around the orphanage, the team leaders, all the volunteers, the Dominican people and the English Institute helped me remember why I became a teacher in the first place!
