December and January are great months to volunteer with Outreach360. It's always an excellent time for groups, and the holidays make it a special time for individuals and families to volunteer.
Because of the holiday and school schedules, every week is different. In early December and late January, you might be teaching in the local schools or the Outreach360 Community Center. In late December and early January, you'll be celebrating holidays with the children and doing special activities with them because they are out of school. If we have a large volunteer team, we would be able to do a holiday camp within the community.
During our winter program, we may have some type of minor construction happening, or some painting and maintenance projects.
The weather during the day is nice and warm, and the nights will probably be cool enough to require a blanket.
Special Family Experience
An Outreach360 trip is an excellent family volunteer vacation! Children of all ages do well on the trip, make a difference and the trip makes a difference to them. We've had many young volunteers comment:
- "Now appreciate my parents much more; I'm no longer going to try to ignore them"
- "I can see how important relationships are; I'm no longer going to sit up in my room and play video games all day."
- "This was the best week of my life."
The children are constantly busy, and the parents don't have to worry about hotels, meals, and transportation. It's an unforgettable vacation, and one that relaxes and fulfills better than any beach trip or amusement park trip. We'll meet you and your family at the airport in Santiago, and take you directly to the orphanage. Once there, you'll meet the other volunteers, be they other families, individuals, or teams. It won't take long to get to know your "new team".
