The holidays were a busy time in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua for Outreach360 volunteers. Over 200 volunteers joined us in December and January to provide educational opportunities to children in disadvantaged communities. We have purchased land for our second neighborhood center in Monte Cristi in the Los Maestros neighborhood, another poor neighborhood on the road going toward Haiti. Children are very thirsty to learn! Our plan is to start with a three classroom center, with the ability to divide each classroom in half. We signed a contract in November 2011 to rent a small house in the German Pomares neighborhood close to our volunteer house. This house is the site of our very first neighborhood center in Jinotega and we have invited primary school aged children to participate in English, Spanish literacy & Community Health educational programs with us at this new center!...
